One of The Sims 4 City Living Expansion's main features are the apartments for Sims to rent in San Myshuno. This guide covers nearly everything you need to know about their rent prices, deposits, and how apartments and penthouses compare to houses in other neighborhoods.

Basics: Rent, Deposit, Furnishings and Lot Traits

In order to move into an Apartment, a Sim must have at minimum the cost of deposit and should expect to be able to afford the weekly rent for a time. Deposit is the flat cost you pay to move into the apartment. Rent is paid weekly so long as you live there. Sims must also pay for Furnishings, which can substantially boost the cost to move in, but has no affect on the weekly rent.

When you're browsing apartments on the city map, sometimes you'll see an up/down arrow to the right of the building when an apartment building is selected. This lets you see other floors. This appears when a rental has more than one level, so if it seems overpriced it is possible that there are multiple floors to the apartment.

Buying a Penthouse is something you can do to make room for a large family in San Myshuno.

Penthouses are different from Apartments, and City Living offers a few of them. The major difference is that Penthouses are owned and do not have rent. For a multi-generational family, this aspect will save a lot of money long-term, but you can expect to pay some very high costs to live in a penthouse.

Lot Traits Guide

Lot Traits are special boosters or penalties for living in that apartment. You can change Lot Traits by clicking the icon in the upper-left corner while in build mode. Some Lot Traits cannot be changed, such as Historical. An apartment can have up to three Lot Traits, so if you only see one listed when you're moving in, you can place two more upon moving in. Building in Apartments

Perhaps the biggest differences builders will notice when designing an apartment are the size constraints. You must work with what you get, and for starter homes that is not much. Other Sims may live in the building, and you have to stay within the apartment's original borders. However you can certainly change the apartment radically to suit your needs. Sims players who make big families will eventually need to move out of the starter in order to have enough room for the family to grow, or else face cramped conditions. Another problem with apartments is the inability to build upward or downward. However, if you get creative you can have a comfy and spacious apartment and access to the freedoms offered in the city.

Sims 4 City Living Apartments List

Sims may occupy any apartment you want. Hit Esc to bring up the menu while in live mode, then pick 'Manage Worlds'. You can then click the house/apartment you want to evict or move out, and make room for your Sims to live in that apartment.

Here is a list of all the apartments in City Living. I've listed the occupied places as well, as you can evict Sims or move them around to rent anything you want. You can assume that higher costs for rent and deposits does equate to more building space. Mainly look to that for the main differences. Naturally the Penthouses listed here are exempt from this and are certainly the largest housings that you can own in the new city of San Myshuno. Note the Old Salt House is the only regular house in San Myshuno. In other districts, there are 2 expensive Penthouses and a few high-rent Apartments, only appropriate for Sims who are super wealthy.
