Sims 4 offers Pro Athlete and Bodybuilder Careers
The Athlete Career is fairly straightforward. It gives us the chance to make money off the Fitness Skill, which was possibly a bit underutilized in Vanilla Sims 4 until the release of additional Careers by Maxis in December 2014. Both branches require your Sim to take up Charisma, which is harder to level than Fitness, so you may consider planning your Sim's Traits and Aspirations around that skill. A Social Aspiration is good for that, giving the Gregarious Trait, and better Charisma Skill gains. Sims that are Happy will generally gain Charisma much faster than with other Emotions, as you can see in our Emotions Guide. If you initially select the Bodybuilder Aspiration when making your Sim, which gives the High Metabolism Bonus Trait, you will get the ability to drink energy juice on the spot by clicking your Sim. This can let you become Energized on demand, indirectly boosting the rate your Sim gains the Fitness Skill and allowing for more time to build Charisma. It's also handy to help you go into work in the Ideal Mood.
One of the fun things about this Career is the ability to use the Llama Mascot Costume whatever branch you choose, which is cute and funny to look at. You can walk around town in this and enjoy some potential hilarity as it is quite odd watching someone talk from inside of one of them.

The Ideal Mood for the starting levels of this Career is Energized, of course. A Brisk Shower right before work will ensure your Sim is in the right mood and aid your Sim in getting faster promotions.

Bodybuilders get Energized Aura Objects
Bodybuilders get the ability to Mentor in Fitness a little earlier than other Sims, though not by much. This can help others gain the skill faster.
Despite the Ideal Mood of Confident, Bodybuilder Career Rewards give off an Energized Aura, which is helpful to levelling the Fitness Skill. This is good, given Aura items do not function when outside range - such as when your Sim is at work. In order to Mentor Sims in Fitness, you should go to the gym unless you plan to have a household member use equipment and learn fitness from your Bodybuilder. To get into a Confident mood before work, have your Sim brush their teeth, psych self up in the mirror, or drink Earl Grey tea.

Pro Athlete Career Branch
Pro Athlete also offers Energized Emotional Auras
Between Bodybuilder and Pro Athlete, I'd take this Career simply to avoid frequent trips to the gym to Mentor Sims and have a simpler means of making money. The Ideal Mood for Professional Athlete is Energized. The main unique thing here is the ability to Study Opponents (found on Computer > Web), which can range from making the Sim Energized +2 or Tense +2. You can have both buffs at once, so could use it again if your Sim gets Tense, then find a useful way to relieve tension. The main goal is to do the daily task to get promotions faster. I suppose it is a rather weak interaction that does little outside work.
The Career Rewards for Pro Athletes give off an Energized Aura, so can help your Sim raise the Fitness Skill. They are great for use in a home gym, but not otherwise spectacular.
Study Opponents can make your Sim Tense with a +2 Moodlet sometimes. +2 Energized other times, with a competitive edge Moodlet. The Ideal Mood is again Energized.
